Is AI coming for your job? Meet Dmitry. My Tax Season Life.

Romeo Razi, CPA

Mar 1st

😶Yes, I am still alive

People ask me (when they get a hold of me), "Romeo, what did you do yesterday?"

Here is my day, in a nutshell:

  • 7am: go to gym 🏋️ (weights)
  • 8am: 💻tax work until 10am. Deep focus. No Mercy.
  • 10am: breakfast
  • 10:30am: 💻tax work until 1pm
  • 1pm: protein smoothie
  • 1:25pm: 💻tax work until 4pm
  • 4pm: rest for 30 minutes, calculate macros on app, what I'm eating tonight
  • 4:30pm: gym 🏋️round two (cardio)
  • 5:30pm: make dinner 👨‍🍳(it's therapy, I swear)
  • 6-6:30pm: Eat. Rest. (Maybe.)
  • 7-7:30pm: tax work until ready to wind down

Next day: repeat 🔁.

This is pretty much 5 days a week, and half day on Saturday.

So, in case you are wondering what I did yesterday, now you know. 😄

Needless to say, I haven't been keeping up with the news in finance much these days, but if something crazy comes up, I will definitely let you know.

In the meantime, here are some things you will find interesting:

📚My boy Dmitry is doing a Master Class on Building to Exit.

I've worked with Dmitry for many years. In that time, I've watched him exit companies the way I wish most people would. Quickly, efficiently, and more often than you'd expect.

His #1 KPI? 😊Happiness.

  • Not ARR.
  • Not TAM.
  • Not "what's your growth trajectory?"

He builds his companies deliberately, so he only works a few hours a day, and spends the rest of his time on what actually matters to him: his family.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I've learned a lot from Dmitry. And you can too.

He's hosting a 100% free event on LinkedIn here.

(And before you ask. No, he's got nothing to sell you. No offers. No funnel. No "free masterclass" that's secretly a 90-minute pitch deck. He's just telling you what he's done and hopefully helping you do it too 🧠.

Honestly? If he tried to sell something publicly, he'd have to start working more than 3 hours a day, and that is completely against his religion.) 😂

🤖Is AI really coming for your job?

Parts of it, for sure.

I had coffee☕ this week with a recruiter who splits her time between the U.S. and Spain (more on that my future "Mobile CPA" lifestyle in a future post.) During my iced americano frenzy (should out to Couve Coffee) she spilled some recruiting tea.

Her office used to run 20 to 30 people. They're now down to 9.

Nobody got fired. No crazy layoffs. No robot uprising. Just normal boring-ass 🤷attrition.

But guess what? Every time someone quit who did repetitive, mind-numbing work, they asked a better question:

Q: Do we actually need to replace this person, or just the process?

A: The Process⚙️

Nine people. Same output as 20+. That's not a rounding error, that's a restructuring disguised as turnover. So is AI coming for your job?🤔

Probably not your entire job. But the parts of it that a moderately motivated intern could do on autopilot? Those be gone. You just haven't gotten the memo yet.📬

But Romeo, what did she say about companies hiring?

2025 was a rough year for hiring. 😬 2026 is thawing (but don't get too comfortable, remember they still charge for parking on the strip.)

If you're job hunting right now, she had three things to say:

📄 Tailor your resume to every single job.
↳ Companies are running applications through AI before a human ever blinks at them.
↳ Generic resumes are getting rejected by an algorithm. So, yours better stand out.

🎯 Be specialized and good at what you do.
↳ The generalist era is quietly closing up shop.
↳ The market is paying for depth, not breadth.
↳ In other words, what can you do, that an AI can't?

🤖 Know how to use AI.
↳ Not "I've heard of ChatGPT" or "I use ChatGPT for my therapy"
↳ Actually know how to use it.
↳ Because the person who gets your dream job probably already does.

So, is AI coming for your job? 🤔

Not your whole job. But the parts of it that a moderately motivated intern used to do. You just haven't gotten the memo yet. 📬

The people who survive this aren't the ones who know the most. 🧠 They're the ones who are nibble, great at what they do, and know how to use the AI tools that do the rest.

Because guess what? That's where the market is going, whether you like it or not.

🏠 Housing Corner

Interest rates jumped the last couple of weeks. All the news is that housing's stagnant, and owners aren't lowering prices fast enough.

On top of that, POTUS meandering in the Middle East isn't instilling any confidence in the housing market back home.

What's been going on with your Favorite CPA

I've been taxing and watching my Macros.

I have gone down to 149 and am on a goal to remove all my "stubborn" fat.

Even my doctor looked at me the other day and said how I cut my weight was "incredible".

No special diets like keto or carnivore. Just Lose It app and making sure I have my macros in check.

When I get the full 6-pack, you will be notified.

The Ides of March are upon us

"Quickly, warn Uncle Brutus, before his accountant tell his what he owes." -Romulus (not Romeo, but close enough)❤️.

Check in with you guys in a few more weeks.

Romeo Razi, CPA Mar 29th 👴🏻Social Security is running out fast 🛡️Social Security is the government pension system that was created by F.D.R. during the Great Depression as part of his "New Deal". Unfortunately, the "New Deal" is starting to look a lot like a scheme Charles Ponzi would be proud of. It used to be a very safe asset, but between LBJ's '68 Unified Budget (think Vietnam war) and Greenspan's '83 Budget Reform (when the surplus started getting too big), Congress decided to do what it...

Romeo Razi, CPA Mar 15th 😶The State of Washington just did a boo-boo. The State of Washington, famous (among tax aficionados) just made a spectacular U-turn on one of their most coveted and prized policies: No State Income Tax. The legislature has been asked to vote on a state income tax 10 times. Ten times they said "Nay." Ten times, voters treated the idea like a bad Gen Z blind date. Declined politely, and ghost👻. Then came March 10th, 2026. A date that will live in Seattleite tax infamy....

Romeo Razi, CPA Feb 14th 😶Seahawks win the Superbowl, California wins their wallets. Seahawks were poppin' bottles🍾 after winning the Superbowl. But it didn't take long for the champagne to go flat. That's because the State of California came to take their cut. Here's how it works: each player got a $178K bonus 💸for winning the Superbowl. Now here comes the knife🔪: the state of California says, "Yo baller, congrats, congrats! You da man. Now pay us for making that money in Cali." But here's...
