⚠️ IRS Scam Alert ⚠️

Hello Everyone,

It's that magical time of year again...

When tax season ends, and scam season begins.

Scammers are coming out of their basements, armed with Gmail addresses and bad grammar, pretending to be the IRS.

Their goal?

To scare you into handing over your money faster than Congress can approve another spending bill (which is normally pretty fast, but not when the gov't shut down.)

📮 Sample Email scam:
An email from “IRSsecurity2025 @ totallylegit. biz” asking you to “click here to avoid jail.”

🚨 Here’s what the IRS will never do:

📧 IRS will NEVER email you
↳ Delete that “urgent” message in your inbox.

📞 IRS will NEVER call you
↳ Unless you're being audited, and (they MUST mail you a letter first). This is the part where you send the letter to your CPA and he finds out if it's legit or not.

💬 IRS will NEVER text you
↳ If you get a text saying “you’re eligible for refund $$$,” it’s not the IRS. It’s a crackhead with a burner phone.

🔒 Want to protect yourself?
🧷 Get an IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)
↳ It’s a 6-digit code you use to file your taxes.

🌐 Apply on IRS.gov
↳ It takes about 5 minutes.
IRS.gov link: Get and identity protection pin (IP Pin)

😑 Deal with minor annoyance now
↳ Or deal with a major identity theft headache for the next 8 months.

Better paranoid than penniless.

🚨Government shutdown. IRS in Limbo.

Congress couldn't balance a budget...

So now your refund might get caught in the crossfire ⚔️🔥.

🧵 Here’s what’s happening:
The government just hit the shutdown button (again).
Agencies are closing. Workers are furloughed. Chaos is the new normal.

But the IRS? They pulled a reverse Uno card.
🃏 Thanks to Inflation Reduction Act funding, they’re staying open…for now.
🗓️ They’ve got a 5–7 business-day-buffer. After that? Welcome to IRS triage.

What that means:
🐢 Refunds might slow down
📞 Support lines will be even worse than usual
📬 Notices and responses? Don’t hold your breath

🛠️ What you can do right now:
📤 Expecting a refund? File ASAP.
🏢 Running a business? Don’t expect speedy answers to IRS issues.

This is more than political theatre. It’s also your refund. Your audit. Your cash.
And, unfortunately for some of you, Congress’s mess may cost you.

💸 1 more week, taxes are due

  • For those who extended, you got 1 weeks before you need to file your taxes. Don't worry, you got this!
  • Personal tax returns, Form 1040, due in 1 weeks.
  • Due Oct 15th

💸 All payments & refunds use Direct Deposit

You may not pay the IRS or receive refunds from them by check anymore.

So, if you haven't already, set up an IRS.gov account.

That's right, filing season officially opens today. But before your sprint toward your refund like it's a Taylor Swift ticket drop, let's talk about what's really going on behind the IRS curtain. Thanks to the OBBBA (One Big Beautiful Bill Act), Americans got two things: a boatload of tax breaks, and....drumroll please.... IRS org...

Romeo Razi, CPA Jan 18th 💰No Tax on Tips....well sort of. Trump made a promise to the Vegas peeps: "no tax on tips." And that's technically true for some of you, but not all of you. Unfortunately like most tax promises, the devil's in the deductions. The $25K tax-free treat comes with strings attached. So, here are the limitations, conditions, and carve-outs: 🤑 First $25,000 of tips: tax-free ↳ Baristas win. ↳ Bottle service girls? No so fast (see below) 🚧 Here are three hurdles you’ll need...

Romeo Razi, CPA Jan 11th 🧾1099s: one last dance with $600 That's right baby! This is the last year you have to pretend that $600 is a meaningful number. Starting this year (2026), the new 1099 limit is $2,000 (and it's indexed for inflation). Fun Fact: the $600 limit was originally set back in 1954. If they’d adjusted it for inflation, today’s number would be closer to $6,800. But nooooo, Congress decided to go for “kinda better” and ended up landing on “still annoying.” Here's what you...
